New investment or retrofit? Many producers raise this question during these days. For some of them in times of fast changing market situations an upgrade of existing machinery may present less risks than an investment in new machinery.
“Securing the machine’s functionality and spare parts availability represents a key issue when thinking about retrofit”, explains Jan Ebener, head of sales of GEORG machinetools. “However a sustainable decision between retrofit versus new investment must be regarded under various aspects and the individual circumstances and conditions of the customer have to be carefully considered.
For quite some time GEORG machinetools supports its customers in finding the right solution. And being advised by a supplier who can offer both possibilities an objective customer advice is granted.
Carl Krafft & Söhne took this advantage. At the occasion of EMO Hannover this customer who is specialized in the manufacture of rolls, rotation-symmetrical components and machinery parts placed his order for the modernization of his existing turning lathe.
The scope of supply includes besides the replacement of the electrical equipment a new machine control type SIEMENS 840 D Solution Line and a complete new carriage side with machine bed and machining carriage. Finally Carl Krafft & Söhne will receive a strong fully operational turning lathe for turning diameters up to 3,000 mm, center length 15,000 mm suitable for workpiece weights up to 30 to.
“At the end it’ s always nice to see a competitive product on which we have put the stamp of GEORG’s quality”, says Jan Ebener. “Also on those of our competitors.”
Aparam
Aperam Guegnon, a global player in stainless and electrical steel, has signed a contract with our service team to equip an over 20 year old GEORG slitting line with a new slitting shear. We are looking forward to a good cooperation.

LTC relies on Georg robotline technology.
This year Georg comissioned two GEORG precisioncut TBA 400 robotlines at LTC in Italy successfully. The lines produce fully automatically complete transformer cores up to 1700mm lamination length and up to 440mm lamination width.
Grinding tests for customers in North America
In our facility located in Roanoke/Virginia our (potential) customers can carry out grinding tests on their own rolls using a state-of-the-art GEORG ultragrind SG 2. This demonstration machine in our Northamerican show room is equipped with the world’s most modern grinding machine control system i.e. the GEORG smartcontrol. At our Roanoke facility, we also manufacture and assemble our smallest roll grinding machines of the GEORG ultragrind SG 1 series. Meanwhile we have supplied more than 100 machines of this type worldwide. From the next bigger series now a GEORG ultragrind SG 2 is ready for demonstration and testing in Roanoke. Always by your side
This week Alejandro from our Mexican service partner Maquitec and Mohan from GEORG in India started their training of several weeks at the Kreuztal headquarter in Germany. Alejandro will support our service team for North America, while Mohan and his Indian colleagues have been working for GEORG for more than 10 years.
First Coil: Decomecc starts slitting operation on new GEORG slitting line
Last year we reported on the investment decision of our long-time customer Decomecc NV from Genk/Belgium in a slitting line from GEORG, which was to be designed for the specific needs of the automotive industry. Now the Belgian company successfully announces the first strip cuts.
Hitachi Energy has ordered two new GEORG precisioncut TBA400 lines for two of their plants.
The first one is a machine type GEORG precisioncut TBA400 ecoline L with a full sequence in-line stacker for up to 1200 mm lamination length. The machine is now starting operation in the plant in Lodz, Poland.

Successful commission of TBA400 at Lemi
TBA400 with high-speed configuration at our long-standing customer Lemi Trafo JSC.
Together with one slitting line which was put into operation a few weeks ago, the new TBA400 expands Lemi's machine park and supports their growth strategy.
