GEORG ultragrind SG 2 for Marcegaglia
Marcagaglia Ravenna S.p.a. has purchased for its cold rolling mill a roll grinder type GEORG ultragrind SG 2 in foundation free GEORG ultrablock version.
Since 2017, when the first ultrablock machine was sold, a total of around 10 machines of this design have been sold.
Marcegaglia is Italy’s leading industrial group in the national and international steel sector, which has been processing steel for over sixty years. The group is the one of the world’s leading independent steel processors with a product range that covers everything from carbon to stainless steel, from long to flat products. With 7.800 employees Marcegaglia is producing 6,5 Mio. tons of finished steel products.
Since the first meeting in Ravenna in 2021, the Marcegaglia technicians have been in close contact with the GEORG specialists to find an optimal solution for the replacement of an outdated existing roll grinder. Despite strong competition, GEORG was able to win the race with arguments such as the hydrostatic grinding spindle and carriage guideways and its unique GEORG smartcontrol.
The GEORGultragrind SG 2 achieves top levels of performance when grinding rolls, thanks to its sturdy basic structure as well as the outstanding GEORG smartcontrol CNC system, boasting highest removal rates combined with outrageous accuracies. Based on Siemens SINUMERIK ONE the GEORGsmartcontrol CNC system is made for future-proof complex grinding applications and maximum user-friendliness.
The high quality of the GEORG roll grinders ensures a high system availability in production for decades.

ATLAS TRAFO is scaling up and GEORG is part of it
To cut transformer cores in their new and impressive facility in Kemalpaşa near Izmir, Türkiye, ATLAS TRAFO has chosen our proven GEORG precisioncut TBA400 ecoline. Thanks to its compact design and intuitive operation, our new customer will be able to set up the machine independently after a two-week training session at our headquarter in Kreuztal.
